Islamabad Police Performance: 2025 Snapshot

Mon, January 12, 2026

The Islamabad Capital Police (ICTP) has released its Annual Performance Report for 2025, highlighting significant gains in crime control and institutional reform across the federal capital. According to official data, 25,324 criminal cases related to various offenses were registered during the year. Overall crime declined by an impressive 37 percent, while heinous crimes dropped by 69 percent compared to the previous year.

The reported offenses included murder, attempted murder, dacoity, robbery, snatching, theft, and vehicle theft. During the year, the police received 71,482 complaints, though a large proportion did not result in the registration of First Information Reports (FIRs).

Operationally, the Operations Division arrested 23,683 suspects. Police also dismantled 578 dangerous criminal gangs, arresting 1,308 members and recovering stolen valuables worth over Rs 2 billion. In a focused crackdown on land grabbing, 161 individuals were apprehended in 157 cases linked to land mafia activities.

A major highlight of 2025 was the Anti-Narcotics Drive under the flagship “Nasha Ab Nahi” campaign. More than 1,000 kilograms of narcotics—including hashish, heroin, and ice—were seized. Notably, 29 individuals were arrested for specifically targeting educational institutions in drug-related activities.

The Weapon-Free Islamabad Campaign resulted in the seizure of over 2,500 firearms and approximately 37,500 rounds of ammunition, significantly curbing the culture of illegal arms display and aerial firing.

The report also underscores the effectiveness of Islamabad’s modern investigative system. In more than 20 high-profile cases—including the murder of social media influencer Sana Yousaf and the abduction of a child from a shopping mall—suspects were traced and arrested within 24 hours. These efforts were reinforced by judicial outcomes, with 14 criminals sentenced to death and 14 others awarded life imprisonment.

Beyond enforcement, ICTP prioritized public engagement and institutional reform to strengthen trust between citizens and the police. A total of 1,270 Open Courts were held, providing direct relief to over 100,000 citizens.

The force also introduced body-worn cameras, e-police posts, and added 206 motorcycles to enhance patrol capacity. In addition, Model Police Stations were established under the Special Initiatives Police Stations (SIPS) program, aiming to create a more citizen-centric policing environment.

These achievements came at a significant human cost. Four police officers embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, while 33 officers were officially honored as “Ghazi” for their bravery and courage during high-risk operations.
