Duty bearers and policy makers are sensitized, trained and enabled for effective implementation of mechanisms on providing access to information and to promote safety of journalists |
Project Objectives: |
Objective 1: Build capacity of federal and provincial duty bearers (public institutions and policy makers) on safety of journalists (SoJ) to advance their knowledge on the topic and improve Pakistan’s indicators on the importance of the three Ps (prevention, protection, and prosecution) for a well-functioning democracy Objective 2: Strengthening RTI legislation and also facilitate ground work for its implementation in Balochistan |

Access to Information Primary: Provincial and federal assembly members, political parties representatives, human rights defenders, media rights / journalist rights organizations, journalist associations, local press clubs, information departments, home department and police (as journalist safety is directly link with criminal justice system due to low prosecution Freedom of Information Primary: Provincial and federal assembly members, political parties representatives, human rights defenders, Organizations and Individuals working on RTI, information department, ombudsman, governance experts, information commissioners, RTI research expert and NGOs. |
Implementation Partners |
Peace & Justice Network (PJN) through its network partners and National Commission of Human Rights (NCHR) will implement the project. For field consultations, PJN will engage its partners Public Broadcasting Network, IRADA, CPDI, Bytesforall, SSDO, DCHD, and Blue Veins. For media houses and press clubs access, PJN will also engage AAAP Communications. |
