Islamabad Office:

PJN's field assessment identified Modern Slavery as one of the most critical issue for Pakistan as its link to other illegal industries and not much work have been done in this regard. As per Global Slavery Index 2018 report, Pakistan is one of the 10 countries with the highest prevalence of modern slavery. Pakistan ranks 8th worst country out of 167 countries for modern slavery.

All type of modern slavery such as forced labor including labor trafficking, sex trafficking including child sex trafficking, bonded labor, forced removal of organs and debt bondage, domestic servitude (in the form of domestic work), forced child laboor (including begging), and forced marriage present in Pakistan. Elimination of modern slavery by 2030 is part of Goal 8 (target 8.7) of the Sustainable Development Goals which is the priority agenda of Pakistan but the pace of the progress is very slow.

In order to address this challenge, Peace & Justice Network in collaboration with its Social Justice Program NayaDaur is launching Modern Slavery Legal Response Center.
