Islamabad child labour survey report to help lift children’s living standard

ISLAMABAD   -  District Administration Islamabad has completed the Child Labour Survey in the limits of the federal capital in line with the directions by the federal government. The findings of the Child Labour Survey will help improve the living standards of children in Islamabad, according to the officials. The government of Pakistan had sought steps from the concerned quarters to conduct Child Labour Survey across the country.

A ceremony was held at the Commissioner office for the soft launch of the Survey. Country Director of the International Labour Organization, Geir Tonstad, specially participated in the ceremony. Sharmila Rasool participated in the ceremony on behalf of UNICEF. The ceremony was hosted by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and Additional Deputy Commissioner (East). In the light of the survey, a comprehensive strategy would be formulated to combat child labour in the federal capital.

Based on the survey results, measures will be taken for the education and betterment of children. Country Director ILO also commended the timely release of the Child Labour Survey Report by the Islamabad administration. Speaking on the occasion, Geir Tonstad said that they will implement the recommendations in the survey report in collaboration with the Islamabad administration.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon said that a comprehensive strategy has been formulated to eliminate child labour in the federal capital. “Effective action will be taken against child labour based on the survey report,” DC Islamabad added.
