11,371 Afghan nationals repatriated so far

Fri, April 11, 2025

As of April 2025, Pakistan has deported over 11,000 Afghan refugees since April 1, following the expiration of the deadline for Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders to leave voluntarily. This action is part of a broader crackdown on undocumented foreigners, primarily targeting Afghans, initiated in October 2023. The Pakistani government has announced plans to expel up to 3 million Afghans by the end of the year, including those without documentation and ACC holders. While individuals with Proof of Registration (PoR) cards have until June 30 to depart, those without valid documents are subject to immediate deportation.

State Minister for Interior Tallal Chaudhry, at a press conference, revealed that as many as 857,157 undocumented foreign nationals had so far been sent back to their countries.

He said that 38 transit points have been established in Punjab, three in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two in Sindh, three in Azad Kashmir, and one each in Balochistan, Islamabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
