PESHAWAR: Syed Arshad Husain Shah, the Caretaker Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Human Rights in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), has underlined the need for a well-defined strategy to address human rights violations swiftly and proactively.

He was speaking at a meeting attended by key representatives from the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights, setting the stage for meaningful discussions and potential reforms.

The meeting, which took place on Friday, had a specific agenda—to assess the state of human rights within the province and outline essential steps to reinforce the human rights framework in the region.

One of the pivotal highlights of the gathering was the comprehensive presentation provided to the minister on the prevailing human rights situation within the province. This elucidated the challenges and obstacles that the Directorate General faces in executing its responsibilities concerning human rights. In response to these revelations, the minister assured the attendees that he would take up the matter promptly with the relevant authorities.

The minister expressed his intention to convene a meeting involving the police and revenue departments in the near future. The purpose of this meeting would be to foster better coordination among these departments when dealing with investigations related to human rights violations.

Furthermore, Syed Arshad Husain Shah stressed the importance of utilizing social media platforms to disseminate information about human rights issues. He directed the team to regularly update the Directorate General’s social media accounts, recognizing the critical role that public awareness plays in driving positive change.

Lastly, he suggested engaging with journalists as a means to effectively communicate the Directorate General’s performance and its dedication to safeguarding human rights.

This outreach to the media signifies a commitment to transparency and a willingness to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to make a tangible difference.
